After over 20 years as a professional photographer Mike Kuhn was introduced to ceramics at Schoolcraft College’s Continuing Education program as a birthday gift from his wife Carol. What started as a way to pass time has opened a whole new world and became a way of life. The process of working with clay; forming, decorating, and firing techniques, the challenges of learning the science, the values that grow out of the practice, and maybe most of all the incredible people he has encountered in this community of potters, past and present, near and far. All of this has inspired Mike to plunge forward in his quest to become the best artist possible - to continue to create functional pieces of art out of a simple ball of clay. His prayer now and always is that his work will bring to you the same sense of pleasure as it brings to him when he is creating it.
